WATSONVILLE, Santa Cruz County — Watsonville has published a five-year interactive bill calculator in connection with its 2026 review of water, wastewater and solid-waste charges. Residents can use the tool to explore how different service arrangements and proposed rates affect household costs.
The city asks users to select relevant service areas, customer classes, meter sizes, water use and solid-waste arrangements. The calculator then produces estimated costs across the proposal’s five-year period.
Why the city reviewed rates
According to Watsonville’s explanation, aging wastewater equipment and higher costs for chemicals, fuel and water infrastructure are major drivers. The city also cites a low-interest state loan intended to spread the burden of plant improvements over time.
Proposal versus adopted bill
The online tool was created for the 2026 rate-review process, including a May public hearing. Its earlier projections should not be assumed to be current charges without checking the city’s most recently adopted rate schedule or an actual customer bill. People who need billing assistance can contact the city’s billing office at 831-768-3133.
